2nd Annual Stockton Sawmill Days

$5 – $15Step back in time on site of Alabama’s first sawmill as Stockton celebrates its history and heritage as a sawmill town. Draft animals pulling logs; professional lumberjacks demonstrating log-rolling, pole-climbing, crosscut sawing, & boom-walking, lumberjack sport camp where pros teach young & old art of log rolling & crosscut sawing; living history demonstrations – basket making, spinning, weaving, horseshoeing, blacksmithing, syrup making, gristmill, Indian camp, cooking in cast iron pots, piney wood oxen & sheep & others.
Churn butter, shell corn, gather eggs, hunt for treasure in sawdust pile. Juried “folk art”. Live music. Buck dancing contest. “Hayride History Tour” of park compliments of Bald. Co. Dept. Archives & History. Flap jacks & syrup, sawmill biscuits, tomato gravy, fried catfish & cheese grits, cracklings, turnip greens, corn bread, BBQ, funnel cakes, buttermilk pie, plus.
